A Heart to Heart with Karyn Fagan Series 1

There are a lot of times that I think I could take advantage of the audience I have from the years of promoting and running Team Women. I would love to go around and share my tips and secrets of marketing and networking with women all over the US. There is just one problem...my fear of public speaking. Yes, I am just like the rest of you who are afraid to speak in public. I am working on this as much as I can because it is a flaw I would like to overcome.

There are a lot of mistakes I have made and have seen other professionals make that I want to make sure do not happen again with women who are just starting out. So the thought came to me to publish a book. A book that would allow me to speak freely to women in business without having to speak in public (haha). One that would allow me to use the vast knowledgebase I have with over 1000 successful members.

If I could write, it would be much easier then speaking. Then there are the dilemmas of what to call the book, how to publish and so on.

From time to time I get upset by watching the mistakes of the networkers around me. I have coined them with titles. There is the "Me Me" networker - the one who joins networking groups only hoping to come home with a new recruit the first night. There are the "Can't Touch This networkers" - this would be the person who comes in and talks about an amazing opportunity that you are going to have to see, but you will have to come sit through a 3 hour presentation and pay $75 to find out what that is.

I know what you are thinking....Variety is the spice of life, and networking is the hungry business person's buffet. I enjoy the fact that there are so many different types of networkers out there. I think it gives everyone a chance to succeed.

What type of networker are you?? Is it working for you?

The Powerful New Tool Offered by Team Women

Team Women has designed a new program for their members and the public networker. Team Women announced the beginning of the Team Women University or TWU.

With the wealth of knowledge in our membership of successful women, we want to take the opportunity to provide information and knowledge to all of you. Join us for live teleconferences every Tuesday morning at 10:00 AM on a variety of key topics. We welcome members and guests world wide to participate. You will be able to earn your Team Women University Degree by participating in several events. Long distance charges may apply to your phone service to call in.

You must be a member or a coach to teach a class. We will allow non-members or coaches to teach courses when the topic is not in conflict with our members. The class will be information based, not a sales presentation. Your contact information will be on the outline, so people who are interested in more information will be able to contact you. The purpose of TWU is to share your expertise, not to sell your products or businesses. Classes will run 30-1 hour in length depending on the topic. Each class will end with a question and answer session.

Founder Karyn Fagan is very excited to offer a valuable tool to anyone wishing to create more success in their life through the valuable tool of learning from those who have as we say "been there done that". To listen to our webcasts please visit http://www.teamwomen.com/webcast/index.html.

If you are interested in participating as a professor please contact Judi Finneran and provide your contact information as well as an outline of your presentation by email.

Women's business group organizing

Women's business group organizing
By: PATTI MAGEE - Staff Writer, North County Times

VISTA ---- Area business women will have a chance to form new professional and social relationships through a new group forming in Vista, organizers said.A Vista chapter of Team Women will have its first meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 7 at Holly's Restaurant.

Team Women now has 43 chapters with more than 400 members in seven states, according to founder Karyn Fagan, a Murrieta resident. She said the organization has been growing rapidly since its inception in January, Fagan attributes some of its success to regulations that cap each chapter at 30 members and allow only one member per business profession in each chapter.
For example, only one real estate person is allowed in a chapter."That helps diminish the competitiveness," Fagan said. "Members don't have to feel like they have to be better than one another. They can have a good time and not have to worry about having 30 other members in the same profession.

"Membership is open to women in a range of fields and it is not necessary to own a business to join, Fagan said. Members in other organizations include mortgage lenders, Realtors, doctors, business coaches, lawyers and travel agents.Melanie Smerican, who works in the travel industry, was a member of the Carlsbad chapter, but said she recently decided to organize a Vista group."I am looking forward to getting to know other business women," she said.Besides making business referrals, the meetings offer members a chance to talk about their business or field. A different one is featured at each meeting.

"They get 10 minutes to talk about what they do," Smerican said. "For example, at the Carlsbad chapter, one of the speakers was a personal trainer and now I understand more about that."Based on the inquiries she's had, Smerican said, she expects the Vista chapter will reach its cap of 30 by the end of January. If that happens, additional Vista chapters can be formed.

Members pay an annual fee of $249 to cover administrative costs, plus a charge of $5 per meeting.Outside of meetings, members get together to shop, form play groups with other working moms, and meet for lunch or to get their hair done.Fagan said the bonds of friendship are so strong that plans are in progress for a Cinco de Mayo cruise. Members from San Diego, Riverside, Orange and Los Angeles counties are expected to participate."We even have a lady flying in from New York to go," said Fagan.Holly's Restaurant is at 540 W. Vista Way. For more information about the Vista chapter, contact Smerican at (760) 598-2939 or e-mail her at msmerican@cruiseplanners.com. More information about Team Women is at www.teamwomen.com.

New Team Women Chapters in California

With the explosion of growth in only the last eight months Team Women is a force to reckon with. Team Women is the fastest growing TEAM in the US.
